Make plans to join us at Wylie Primary for this fun evening!

While rain is causing some flooding and power outages in portions of Rusk County, all HISD campuses are open. We know some staff and students live in or must drive through the areas impacted by last night’s storms and encourage all to be cautious when traveling this morning.

HISD is closely monitoring the developing weather across our area. We currently do not anticipate any major impact for our schools. Should the situation change, we will notify parents and staff. Please stay safe this evening.

Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures of Wylie Primary students who volunteer to serve at school to hang out with our students! WatchDOG dads and volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.
If you are interested in this volunteer program, please reach out to the Wylie Primary office at 903-655-5101.

HISD will conduct two emergency drills during the week of March 7 - 11. A "lockdown" drill will be conducted at every campus along with an off-site "evacuation" drill at Northside Intermediate School. Please visit http://HendersonISD.org/drill for more information.

This is will be a fun, HALF-day but FULL of learning!

Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Georgia's class just ended a Frog Street unit called Creative Me. This unit challenged all of the students and their families to create a unique robot from recycled materials they could gather around the house. This was a great opportunity for parental involvement and spark some creative learning for our students! They did such a GREAT job!

Here are our February Super Cubs! These students are hard-working, respectful, kind friends, responsible, and all-around model students. Way to go, friends!

The reveal for our brand new Book Vending Machine! Thank you to everyone who came out to make it such an exciting experience!
Check out the Wylie Primary Facebook page to see the video or click the "Campus Videos" button to watch on YouTube.

HISD needs your input! Please take 4 minutes to let us know your thoughts on helping students after COVID. Thank you! https://HendersonISD.org/essersurvey

Our Pre-K classes had a snow day yesterday! They made and ate snow ice cream, mixed together fake snow, made pattern bracelets, and so much more. They were even able to ice skate! During our snow day, students were conducting hands-on science experiments, using math and ELA skills along with getting to experience multiple sensory activities. They all had a great day and learned a lot while having fun!

A reminder that students will not come to school on Friday, Feb. 18 or Monday, Feb. 21. We will see your students back to school on Tuesday, Feb. 22!

Check out some important dates in February and March!

Students have a 4-day weekend this week!
