Henderson High School

HISD received a report from a student at the Middle School campus today that they had heard about and had seen a threat to the campus posted on social media. We immediately took this report seriously and conducted a thorough investigation to determine the credibility of the threat. After a detailed investigation involving a number of students and staff, we have found that the threat was unfounded and there is no evidence that there was ever any danger to our school or students. We take all threats seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff. We appreciate everyone who cooperated with this investigation and want to remind all students that if they ever hear or see anything that causes them concern, they should immediately report it to a trusted adult. It is important that we work together as a community to maintain a safe and secure environment for all. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your campus principal. Focus on the Future is Friday morning for juniors and seniors. Students will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with over 50 vendors. The vendors represent a variety of post-high school paths for students...technical careers, professional careers, right-out-of-high school careers, on-the-job training careers, apprenticeship careers, etc. We are excited to create opportunities for students to talk to those currently working in their field of interest. Over $1000 in door prizes will be given away to students in attendance!

Material for tryouts will be live tomorrow at 4PM on the Henderson High School webpage. Open gym is optional for everyone other than mascot candidates. Open gym is Wednesday at HHS from 5:45-7:00PM. Open gym is closed to the public and coaches. Only cheer candidates will be allowed to enter the gym.

This morning we planned a much-anticipated event that kids look forward to every year; handing out the 2021-2022 HHS Yearbook. As a parent, alumni and, most importantly, as the HHS Principal, I was greatly disappointed. The 2021-2022 High School Yearbook does not meet our tradition of excellence. A yearbook should give you the opportunity to look back and remember the best of times. It should celebrate all of our student organizations, their activities, and their successes. It should recall the people, the places and the events that made that year memorable. The 2021-2022 Yearbook does not. I trust that our students last year put in a tremendous amount of work gathering information, writing captions and articles and building pages. However, not all of their work made it to the printed product. I am committed to making this right for the Class of 2022 and other HHS students. If you have paid for a 2021-2022 Yearbook, we will deliver a product worthy of your expectations as quickly as possible. We have spoken with the company that prints our yearbook to begin the process of printing a new, complete book. It will include all of our students, our student organizations, and the memories you have come to expect. In short, with a little patience and maybe even some of your help along the way, we will create a Henderson High School Yearbook for 2022 we can all be proud of. Shannon Dickerson, HHS Principal

At approximately 1 pm, local authorities alerted the district of a possible threat to an un-named school in the area. All HISD campuses went into lockdown. The suspect has been apprehended and is in custody. The lockdown has been lifted.
